crafty catch up

I jazzed up the worlds most boring lamp with Decopatch , if you have never tryed it you've got to give it a go its the most fun therapeutic craft ever! it really is just cutting or ripping up special thin paper and gluing it onto a surface or object ! easy peasy .

This is the finished lamp it has the nicest pinky glow when its switched on . i added a felt flower that came as a kit from Molly Makes magazine .
Ive also done some hand applique onto a cardi , i used a black napkin from primark and a scrap of spotty fabric for the bow.

This pretty dove calendar was made by Ben at school ,Ive stuck it to the kitchen cupboard so every morning it can cheer me up as i make breakfast for the pixies in the early winter morning gloom.

It has been super windy where we live in lancashire for the last couple of months so with a gale blowing in under the door i found a use for my stash of bits of left over wool.... a stripey knitted snakey draft excluder ! Meet Sissy (Ben named him!) he was the most fun to make watching all the colours come together to make sissy the super rainbow snake .

i turned 30

On January the 8th i turned the big 3...0 ! I woke up to a strange bumping sound and when i looked out of the window the their was balloons with happy 30th written on them tied to the front of our house bumping about in the wind :) We all went out for dinner and ate lots of ice cream and then my parents looked after the sleeping pixies while me Adam and my brothers went bowling which i haven't done since i was about 14 yrs old and boy was i rubbish ! but it was lots of fun and we finished the night off with a giant pizza :)

This is a 30 year old me.

I got this felt bag and purse off Adam for my birthday Ive got so many design ideas for the front of them I'm so excited I'll post a picture when their finished ( their from bloomingfelt.co.uk if anybody wants to decorate their own felt bag or purse).

more felty birthday presents ,i finally finally have some 100% wool felt sheets yay!!! and 'The Cuter Book by Aranzi Aronzo.

Adam also bought me a big bag of buttons :) happiness is defiantly a big bag of buttons!

The pixies bought me this really pretty sewing kit which comes in its own little tin . Ive since finished making them so theirs a Before... during and after photo ! they turned out brilliant and strangely enough even though they are all from the same pattern they are all different sizes which is a testament to my wonky sewing but i think it works well and they do look very cute snoozing on my shelf.

The pixies made me a lovely card and Ben wrote happy birthday on the front, i'll treasure it forever xx

Molly turned 2

Molly May turned 2years old on the 28th December ,i think that's the quickest 2yrs ever! We all went to a soft play centre for her birthday treat and then back home for a birthday tea with Grandma and grandad and the uncles . Her favourite present was pre loved buzz light year we got given from a friend ,she takes it everywhere with her now even to bed so sometimes in the night we hear Buzz talking if she rolls onto him in her sleep :)

Heck im really far behind in my blogging ! This is our Christmas in a couple of piccys. We had a lovely stay at home spend half the day in our jammies kind of day it was really relaxing and just perfect.
we saved the free lego kits from the Sun newspaper and wrapped them up for Ben's Christmas present their was about 24 little sets in the end and he was over the moon when he opened them and spent most of the day at the table happily building little cars and spaceships .

this is Daisy Doo modelling some of her christmas presents , we bought her a little sylvanian family windmill which she was delighted with , i was sooo pleased she loved her Sylvanians it was my absolute favourite toy for most of my childhood :)
Molly may got a pre-loved Waybaloo house with the little weird people that live in them , it was Mollys first real christmas being old enough to know all about father christmas and presents etc so she was very excited .

These are some of the lovely presents i was lucky enough to be given , I got the super cute Happy Tree felt kit from Adam and i just couldn't resist quickly making one christmas night , i also got lots of little fabric bundles from Adam which are just gorgeous and my brains all a kerfuffle while i try to decide what i can make with it :)

My parents bought me the Kirsty Allsopp crafty book , ive loved watching her crafty programmes on tv and think shes brilliant so im well chuffed with her big book of exciting things to make :) cant wait to make the Elderflower cordial !

Missing my pixies.

On Friday Ben and Daisy went to stay at their fathers for a week , he asked me if he could have the pixies that week ages ago and i stupidly said yes and as its got closer and closer Ive been dreading it . They have been for a week before and i missed them like mad but i miss them even more i think because its the run up to Christmas i just feel they should be home doing Christmas crafts and opening their advent calendar etc.
My tiny pixie is still home with us i still wont let him have Molly overnight shes just too little and every cell in my body screams at me that its just not right to let her go but in the spirit of compromise and to stop the constant hassle Adam is taking us the 80miles to Stoke where the pixies father lives so she can spend the day with him and his fiance on Thursday and yet again i dreading it :( i know she will be happy to be with Ben and Daisy again as she is missing them lots but i hate the thought of handing her over and then having to drive off , i don't know how I'm going to deal with it i just cant wait for it to be over .

Ive been keeping myself busy so far this week making some more decorations .

This is a felt and fabric scrap garland i made alternating stars and hearts .

Molly had lots of messy fun with some red glitter.

I found a Christmas stocking knitting pattern in a magazine so made a stocking garland for the other fireplace :) their super cute and by chance i discovered they fit Daisy's doll Penelope perfectly so im knitting some pink stripey socks for Penelope for Christmas.

This year we got a real Christmas tree again i toyed with the idea of getting a fake one but real ones just look soooo pretty and all our homemade decorations look much more at home on a real tree than they ever would on a fake one . I decided last year that i wanted our Christmas tree decorations to be mostly homemade and so far we have stuck to it we have two pieces of tinsel and a couple of ikea gnome decorations but other than that its all handmade by me and the pixies and every year we plan to add more homemade decorations . Some of these are last year decorations and some are this years.

Happiness

Gosh its been a long time since i last posted on my poor neglected blog ! Things have changed alot over the last couple of months my lovely man who ive been seeing for the last year and a bit has moved in with us all :) The silhouette above is us we had done by a very talented lady at a family wedding :) . Its been so lovely having Adam with us all the time now and the children really enjoy his company and he loves the pixies to bits and gets stuck in with all the dirty nappies and bath times etc. Life is very good and i am one happy mummy :).

Ive been really terrible at taking pictures of our adventures recently which is a good reason as any to start blogging again which encourages me to dust the camera off and get taking loads of photos.
Below is a random selection of photos from the last couple of months since i last posted .

This is our very scary pumpkin we made for Halloween i got the great idea of adding teeth with kebab skewers and well he just ended up a little tooo scary !

Molly May is gonna be 2yrs old in a couple of weeks ! where those two years have gone i do not know !

Last week was Ben and Daisy's school Christmas concert they did Annie , Ben was a toy in a toy shop and sang 'Ive got no strings ' from Pinocchio he absolutely loved it as you can tell from his beaming smile.

The reception class did the nativity and Daisy got to be a Angel she came dancing on the stage with all the other Angels it was so lovely i couldn't help getting all teary :)

The pixies all got a craft kit from father Christmas at school today so before tea the pixes were gluing and sticking and sprinkling glitter ,Molly decided to decorate herself .

Blue skys and wonkeyness

I woke up this morning feeling very down so when i saw the weather outside i knew that a big walk with molly and Doodles was in order to banish any glum feeling . The beautiful blue sky and the rolling hill really helped and was such a refreshing change from wind and rain.

The leaves are just about starting to change golden yellow.

Of course this little pixie always manages to cheer me up ,she shouting 'Cheeeeeeeeeese' at the top of her voice in this photo . She loves going for walks she spends ages collecting things along the way, the other day it was stones today yucky brown leaves.

Doodles loved her long run about across the fields .

When we got home from our walk i felt energised and as it was so sunny so i finally decided to sand and paint the old brown chair that's been sat in my bedroom for about a year now . It has a twin who was lovingly painted up and loooks sooo pretty so it was this ones turn . Will show of a photo of the finished chair when Ive managed to cover all the dark wood up with B&Q Antique white paint.

Ive seen this magazine featured in LOADS of blogs so had to have a look for myself and wow i was not disappointed its soooo pretty and inspiring i love it ! and even better every issue comes with a little craft kit with all the materials included to make a mini make .This months was a cute phone cozy but i already have a snugly phone cozy so after much deliberation and stroking of fabrics i decided to use the materials to make a little birdy picture .

This is what i made with the free kit from Mollie Makes ,i added a couple of bits and did some really wonkey embroidery but i kinda like the wonkeyness and it now has pride of place on the wall in the lounge .

Alpaca love

Ever since i met these gorgeous Alpacas over the summer Ive been in love with them they are just so lovely and don't get me started on how unbelievably soft their coats are ! They are definitely at the top of my wantie wish list , i keep day dreaming that somehow i'll get to extend my allotment and get a couple of Alpacas :) one day maybe.

but for now i'll have to make do with knitting them. I found a pattern on this charity website http://www.alpacamaraca.com/ so far ive knitted one for myself out of Alpaca wool but you can knit them to be sold to raise money for the charity so gonna knitt a couple more i think .

Starting school and snuggling up

Last week Daisy started school , she was so excited to be going that it helped me not to come over all teary eyed . She happily skipped off into her class room and was still happy when i picked her up at home time she was covered in mud so had definitely has lots of fun :) Ben is in the class next door so they still get to see each other and play together which they both love .
Its been very strange it just being me and Molly at home but molly enjoys all the mummy attention and when Molly has a nap i get to craft away for a couple of hours .

We are also have Doodles over for the week as my parents have gone on holiday.
When we moved into our new home Doodles stayed at my parents house as we figured i had enough on my hands looking after 3 children on my own plus Doodles loves my dad to bits so it seemed like the right decision. I do miss her alot though she is brilliant company and the pixies love her.

We've not been out much this past week, its just rained and rained and now its blowing a gale i cant wait for the nice autumnal weather to start. Although snuggling up on the sofa and watching a film is always fun.

It was a soggy gray bank holiday weekend here we ventured out on Sunday to a Medieval day at Salmsbury Hall .

Ben got to hold a real sword which made his day as hes massivly into knights and castles .

and he got to try on a reall nights helmet . It rained so heavily in the end we had to go home .

My wet weekend crafty make going to pin it on my winter coat which has unfortunately made it from the wardrobe to downstairs as its been so cold and miserable .

Allotment

My dad had last week off work so started teaching Ben how to ride his bike without stabilisers ,Ben's been doing really well and I'm sure it wont be long before he finds his balance and is whizzing about .Especially with Molly to help .

About 2 months ago i got a phone call offering me a allotment :) after lots of squeals of joy we accepted and I'm now the very proud owner of a allotment... yay! Its on land given to the people of the village by a mill owner so not owned by a council so we can pretty much do whatever we want with it we don't have to keep it neat and tidy and grow rows of turnips we can keep any animal we want on it even cows and pigs ! and we can have bonfires camp on it etc etc i so happy their isn't lots of strict rules its all very laid back . Ive got plans to get some raised beds and grow some yummy veg and plant lots of flowers but mainly leave it just as somewhere for me and the pixies to come and play and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

This is the view from my allotment :) its so quiet with just the sound of the sheep chickens and ducks i love it ,i just wish summer would last another couple of months so i can enjoy it more .

My dad found this at a charity shop for the pixies to play with on the allotment .

Molly May relaxing with a book . She absolutely loves reading books shes not fussy what she reads i even found her reading one of my dads old maths exercise books , i think i should of called her Matilda.
This is the first ever plant to be planted on my allotment its a little raspberry plant a very proud moment however when we cam back the next day some naughty rabbits had eaten most of the leaves ! so we quickly put a little chicken wire fence round it to try and save the rest .

Mr clown did have lots of green hair but i must not of attached it properly and now hes just got one green strand of hair but he doesn't seem to mind but I'm always finding him with his pants missing though !!

Needle felted friends

i bought this chair at a car boot sale it was a horrid dark wood stain colour but i loved the little heart cutout in the back of the chair . so after lots of sanding and painting it looks much better i think . i also made the spotty pink cushion.

I bought some air drying clay for the pixies and while they sculpted monsters i made 3 little hearts .

Yes more hearts ... these are made from clothes Ive bought from charity shops for the sole purpose of cutting up and making into lovely things .

This is all the crafty things ive made in the last year and a bit, well most of it theres been the odd jumper knitted that accidentally got felted in the washing machine....oops!

These little owlies are inspired by some i saw in a shop and money being tight i decided to make my own instead. Finding the perfect twig for them to sit on took longer than making the owls .

Knitting is still my favourite crafty pastime its so relaxing and i love the slightly wonkey skwiffy little character that i create they look not much like the pictures in the book but i love them and the pixies defiantly love them.

I made this little family of spotty monster in a weekend out of some super snuggly fleece.

The little baby one is called Mumford after the band Mumford and sons which was on the radio just as i finished making him .

Daisy's 4th Birthday

Last weekend Daisy turned 4years old so as a treat for her birthday we went for a day at a wildlife park in the sunny forest of Bowland.
The little Meercat sat on the castle tower was my favourite :)

Daisy fell in love with this little chicky we spent a very long time stroking it and she wasnt even put off when it did a poop in her hand :)

Hurray! I've finally managed to get round to posting on my poor neglected blog :)
Its been about a year and 4 months ish since my last post and golly we've been busy ... we moved into our lovely new home last June ,Ben started the village school last September and Daisy went to a lovely little pre school playgroup two doors up from our house .
Ive been busy trying to adjust to being a lone parent of 3 children which has taken a long while but i think finally I'm starting to find it easier .
the photos are just a random selection of me and the pixies out and about , Ben might be at school some of the time but it doesn't stop us doing all the things we love doing as a family like exploring and crafting.

Today we all needed a calm quiet day at home .
We spent the day playing and reading lots and lots of books and a certain little lady had a visit from the Health visitor to talk to me about weaning ,we got lots of leaflets and even a leaflet about how to use baby walkers safely!? oh well the paper recycling bag is feeling well fed tonight :) and so is my breastfed baby .

Saturday the pixies went to spend the day with their Daddy so after i had dropped them off me and Molly got the bus to Clitheroe ,my parents have gone on holiday so i was determined not to sit at home and feel miserable .
We sat in the grounds of the castle under a tree and had our dinner . It was so peaceful and the view was beautiful of the distant hills it was just what we needed .

The sun was out in a cloudless blue sky but by the time we had gone the short distance to the river the sun was hidden behind grey clouds but that wasn't going to stop my pixies having fun . poor Molly has Croup :( she really enjoyed the walk and the cool air helped her cough and was really peaceful as we wondered through the Forest she stared up at the tree tops and had a good sleep .

Three cows and a teeny tiny baby cow have appeared in the field at the end of our road so we went to have a little look . We had only taken a couple of steps into the field when 2 of the cows started trotting towards us with a menacing look on their faces ! my fear of cows kicked in ( was chased by a heard of cows in this exact same field when i was little ) so i told Ben and Daisy to go to the gate in a trying not to panic type voice, Ben went quickly but Daisy who is exploring all meanings of the word 'stubborn' wouldn't budge so i ran with her under my arm like a rugby ball just as the scary cows broke into a full on run ! eeeeek . took the above photo from the safety of the road . Don't think I'll be venturing anywhere near those cows again .

we found some more fields to explore instead.

feeling a bit naked without Molly on my front, after a wakeful night she fell asleep on the bed so i left her with my mum, so she missed out on the scary cows thankfully .

this is Hedgy the Hedgehog she belonged to me when i was little ,Ben loves her and has taken her everywhere since we found her in grandmas loft. she's eating a piece of dried sheep poo in this picture :) mmmmmmmmmm

In the afternoon grandma took us to Townley hall we first went to the playground which was packed with children and soon Daisy had disappeared in the crowds of children i spotted her being carried away from the playground in a Lady's arms so i ran faster than Ive ran in a long while and caught them up, the well meaning but annoyingly silly lady thought she was lost and was asking random people if Daisy was theirs ! anyone could of said 'yes she was their daughter' and taken her ! i was so shocked at her stupidity i just scooped Daisy up and we left the playground quickly ! don't you just hate the way places become stupidly busy in school holidays ugh!

This beautiful permaculture site was lovely and peaceful a little oasis among the craziness of the park.

Molly has been particularly unsettled this last week, she wakes up every hour during the night for a feed and gets so tired during the day but wont have a nap and then gets very upset because shes so tired. I'm finding new depths of tiredness and even with my family to help I'm finding it all hard . because of the tired mummy and upset Molly Ive been trying to keep life simple and gentle.

Daisy's favourite place to play is on the tree stump in the garden .

Ive been trying to get out of the house at least once a day so the pixies can let off some steam .Ben really enjoys holding doodles lead and running along side her .

only problem is shes half greyhound so is rather faster than him at running :)

This is the dog that rolled in the fox poop... that needed a wash...

and after TWO washes with various smelly and organic soaps STILL stinked so i read that Tomato ketchup gets rid of fox smell so i gave it a try..... it didn't work but Doodles sure did enjoy licking it all off :)

Oh and yes she still smells !

It has taken me a while to get round to upload Ben's birthday photos but here they are :)
i managed to find the time to make him a birthday crown just in time for the big day ,Ben was really excited about it and wore it with pride :)

having a balloon fight with Uncle Robert , i had Molly sat on my knee watching the balloon fun when she did her first laugh :) it was such a hearty happy chuckle it really made my day .

This was Ben's birthday present a super duper bike .

He was unbelievably excited when he saw it ,we all went straight out to give it a test drive , i think he was expecting it to just 'go' without peddling so we have spent the last couple of days teaching him how to peddle a bike .hes pretty much got it now and goes out every evening after tea with my dad to practise up and down our road .

Ben really likes the box on the back of the bike he fills it up with toys and stones and other treasures before he goes out on a ride.

Molly came out to watch the bike ridding fun too.

Things have been very busy here since my last post ,tonight has been my first opportunity to do a bit of blogging .Ive got a few random type photos going back as far as mothers day . The photo above is my beautiful mothers day card which Ben picked out for me :)

Bens got a scissor fascination at the moment i bought him some left handed scissors but i cant remember where i have put them so here he is chopping up a picture with mummy's craft scissors .

Hes made from a pair of stripey socks and was made for Sarah ,Colin ,Alice and tummy pixie of the Taylor-Dunn tribe :)

I decided way back in February that i was going to knit Ben and Daisy a Rabbit each for Easter and it has taken me this long to finally finish knitting them both, fitting in a bit here and a bit there while Molly slept next to me in bed .

while rummaging through boxes i came across a 'Magic Painting' book which we were given last Christmas so we had a go and Ben and Daisy were amazed by it ! and i must admit so was i it was really fun painting it and seeing what colour the pictures went ,its not the most creative thing ever but was lots fun.

This little piggy is now 3months old and has started 'talking' and attempting to roll over

These are our scrunchy crunchy chicks which we made for Easter cards .

It was a good job we started all our Easter crafts well in advance as we all came down with the vomiting bug Daisy got it then Molly got it a bit then Daisy got better then Ben got it and got Better then i had it then Daisy got it again but this time she had it really bad she couldn't keep even the smallest drop of water down and spent about 3 days being sick we visited the out of hours doctor who gave her some medicine to stop her being sick but it didn't work, on the fourth day when she got up after a night of being sick she looked really awful and was screaming for juicey and when i comforted her i could feel all her bones and she had visibly lost weight so me and my mum took her straight to the urgent care centre at the hospital. She was admitted to the children's ward with dehydration and put on a drip she was so unhappy and screaming in pain it was truly awful all i could do to help was cuddle her .

She had to stay the night i was all ready to stay with her but Mollyother ideas she hated the hospital and cryed and cryed and wouldn't settle so very tearfully i decided i couldn't stay so my dad stayed over night with her . the next day she stayed on her drip all day but looked so much better and was able to keep some toast and juice down so by the evening they decided she was well enough to come home .

She has slowly recovered and has got her appetite and her energy back but is still much thinner than she was . Ben missed her like mad and was really happy to have her home .

Now things are getting back to normal i have had the time to start making Ben's birthday badge and crown . so far Ive finished the badge , his birthday is Tuesday so i think ive got enough time to make his crown , fingers crossed.

Some more teeny tiny lambs were born at the farm in the village so we went for a look at them ,they were super cute .

while i was busy taking photos of the baby lambs and thinking how much id love to give one a cuddle the pixies crept closer and closer to the little stream that runs through the field.

and then Ben joined her for a dip. we got told off by grandma when we got home as there was a large pile of wet clothes to be washed .. naughty Mummy :) i sometimes wonder if my pixes are a bit too free range ?

My laptops being playing up so I'm a bit behind in updating my blogety blog and Ive got heaps of photos to share :)
This is what we did at the weekend ,Ben and daisy went out for the day with their Daddy so despite feeling a little weary i took advantage of being toddler less and me and my mum ,dad and brothers went on a big walk around Pendle.

On Sunday it was another beautiful day so i went with the pixies and their Daddy to the park .

I have been finding it really hard to keep positive and happy lately and this trip out didn't really help much ,i have to try really hard to take each day as it comes and not think and worry too much about the future but I'm really struggling at the moment .

This sweet little pixie is now feeling much better so I'm getting a smidgen more sleep which has made such a difference to how i feel .Molly is now 2months old and getting bigger by the week .

This was supposed to be a trip to get some gardening supplies but would you know it the garden centre was shut for refurbishment ! thankfully there was a awesome playground so the morning was saved .

It has really started to feel like Spring is here and were coming out of Winter hibernation .
we set about planting some Sunflowers yesterday .

the poor sunflower seeds were all planted and watered when Daisy decided it would be much more fun to tip out all the soil ! sigh !

After are the incident with the sunflowers we went for a walk in the sunshine

Ive named this giant Turkey 'Monstro' he is huge ! he saw Doodles so started waddling ever so slowly towards us looking very menacing and puffing himself up even more . we quickly left before we upset him anymore , ben said he was scary and i think id have to agree :) beautiful in a ugly kind of way but scary !

i stood under a tree waiting for the pixies to catch up but they were intently investigating something so i wandered over to have a look and they were busy filling there pockets with sheep dropping ! i asked did they know what they where and they said stones :) when we got home daisy had filled every pocket and her rucksack with sheep 'stones' .

On Friday we went on a very misty walk across the fields.

Then the sun started coming out and all the mist rolled away it was so pretty to watch . we didn't see another person while we were out it was so peaceful and tranquil it really lifted my spirits after a wakeful night up with a snuffly Molly.

Molly slept the whole time we were out in a mei tai I'm borrowing off Angie from the GP forum to see if i like it and so far i really do :) i was worried it would be too much like my horrid Tomy baby carrier i was given when Ben was born but it wasn't and it is so comfortable to wear and very quick and easy to put on which i LOVE LOVE LOVE !

yesterday we went for a walk along the canal . we got followed all the way by two swans who kept hissing at Doodles .

This cute Chicky was made from a shop bought baby hat i got given when Molly was born .it didn't fit very well so i made it into a chicken :) one side is stripey cotton and the other side is soft fleece material.

These little mice are the perfect quick little knitting project for a busy mama with a craft addiction :)

On Sunday my mum took us all down to Staffordshire to see the pixies Nana and Grandad . I found it strangely sad going through Stoke on Trent where we used to live and seeing all the places we went .I miss our dirty old city :(

Yes i know Christmas has been and gone well for at least the next 10months but i so wanted to make this knitted Christmas tree decoration for Christmas 09 but never quite got round to it so i made it for next Christmas :) organised or what ? This photo goes under the title of 'making Molly calm' i read in some naff baby book that giving a bath in the evening can calm them and help with those evening crying sessions so we gave it a try and for the last couple of night it has really done the trick YAY! Ive taken to just filling up the kitchen sink as its nice and deep and baby sized :) and Molly doesn't seem to doest mind having a bath next to the washing up drying on the draining board .

This tiny little one has been keeping me busy so time for blogging has become a bit scarce.
My poor pixie has been having a touch of windy pops so spends most evenings crying sleeping waking up and crying a bit more till she finally falls asleep from exhaustion from all the crying ,its heartbreaking to see her so upset and walking round 'jiggling her' and a nice warm bath seems to be the only things that calms her .
During the day time she is a happy peaceful baby who loves nothing more than a nap in her mummy's arms . I'm feeling very tired but very blessed although the tiredness is making me feel cold all the time so I'm going for the world record of number of items of clothing worn at anyone time .

Here is some of what we have been up to over the last couple of days .
Ben's come over all maternal and dressed his soft toys and Daisy's dolly in Molly's clothes :) he has been changing nappies and wipeing imaginary poo bottoms :) At the weekend it was so sunny and beautiful so we went for a walk in Spring Wood to soak up the winter sunshine .

Today this little pixie is 1 month old ! i really cant believe how quickly its gone .

Being a mummy to 3 pixies has been easy so far but then i am living with my family which helps as theres always someone to lend a hand especially as Ben always seems urgently needs the toilet when I'm breastfeeding !

Ive really enjoyed carrying Molly in her sling and she loves it too and instantly falls asleep as soon as shes put in it .

We has the health visitor round yesterday and she was really surprised at how well Molly's putting on weight :) so I'm feeling very proud as its all down to magic mummy milk :)

Everyone i meet when were out and about seems to ask 'is she a good baby then?' which is so baffling as how could a baby ever be anything but perfect !? its such a weird thing to ask but then i did hear a mum saying she wasn't having anymore babies as her other two had been so good that another one would be bound to be evil ! (sigh) hearing this kind of rubbish is the major downside of going to playgroups and does make me feel like a alien from another planet compared to the other mums .

It was Grandmas birthday so me and the pixies set about making her a card .

After covering ourselves and grandmas kitchen in splodges of paint this was the finished product .i got the idea from The Crafty Crow but i had to adapt it slightly using footprints instead of hand prints for Molly as getting tiny hand prints seemed like hard work . Grandma was really pleased with her card, we also made her a birthday cake too but it was eaten up before i got a chance to photograph it :)

Daisy was fascinated with the 3d glasses that came with Ben's Lego club magazine she wondered round pointing at things going 'dat gween' and 'dat gween' :)

A year in the land of Blog.

It has been a whole year since i started this blog and what a year it has been ! Im determined not focus on the negative of our past year which is made all the more easier having kept a blog as it reminds me that although our blog year had some heartbreak it was a really lovely year and we did some wonderful things together .
I wont say that looking over our year of blogs hasn't made me a little sad but im sure this coming blog year will be filled with fun and i'll have lots more lovely photos to post and show you all :)

These are some of the few photos of Molly taken while we were in hospital which is pretty poor considering we were there for 10 hours before we were allowed to come home ! this was we had to wait to see a paediatrician to check Molly over because she had a two vessel cord and there should have been three ,which can be a sign of chromosomal defects such as Trisomy 13 and 18 and defects in internal organs mainly the kidneys and heart . Thankfully at the time none of this was explained to us and the midwifes played down how serious it could be or i think i would have been going out of my mind with worry.
Molly was checked over and thankfully there was no problems .
Ive since looked up what a 2 vessel cord means and it was scary reading ! i feel so lucky and blessed to have a healthy little girl .x i think someone was looking over us and keeping my little girl safe x

We met up with Andy and went to a soft play centre for the day .
The pixes had a wonderful time and didn't want to leave and Molly quietly slept through all the manic toddler shouting and yelling.

We have had huge amounts of lovely snow in lancashire it was snowing so heavily it looked like white feathers falling . My favourite bit about all the snow is the quiet due to lack of cars on the roads .

We bought a sledge and went to try it out on the fields at the end of our road . Molly was fast asleep so i left her in the warm house with her Uncle Patrick .

felt a bit sorry for the pregnant ewe's out in the snow .

The pixes loved sledging and our sledge goes really fast, so fast infact we ended up in the stream that runs through the field .

We wernt out long though as the snow was coming down thick and fast and the pixies started getting cold .

New year

i celebrated the passing of 2009 and the starting of the new year in bed breastfeeding Molly and listening to the fireworks going off outside .
On New years day we all went for a walk out in the winter sunshine and i got to christen my new gypsymama wrap :) and use my Mam coat with a snugly baby in it instead of a big baby bump .

Christmas

This year i wasn't really looking forward to Christmas and the closer it got the more down i felt, i missed my home and all the little things we used to do at Christmas time .I couldn't help but think of last Christmas and how i wished id known it was our last as a family so i could treasure every little moment .
Christmas day was a quiet day and the pixies loved there presents but by dinner time were both nearly asleep from all the excitement and i felt ready for bed . Christmas eve me and Ben made a snowman and a very cute snow baby.

Monday 28th December 9.06am this tiny perfect little person came into our lives.
The birth went just as i had hoped i was left to labour peacefully and quietly and the midwifes treated me with kindness and respect . It was a wonderful experience that i will treasure the memory of forever x
We have called her Molly May ,(may is also my middle name and was my Grannys name.

We got to come home the same day and Ben and Daisy were so excited to meet their new sister.

will post more photos and write more when i have more time as Molly wants feeding and is busy trying to find a nipple on grandads jumper :)

With the complete failure of Mummy to make some Christmas cards we set about making some Pixie made cards .

After the pixies painted their faces,necks and arms this was the finished product ! we put a Ben paw print on the front and a Daisy paw print inside the card complete with Rudolf nose and googly eyes they look brilliant and we just made enough for all the Aunts and Uncles and Nana and Grandad so mission accomplished !

With great excitment we woke up to find it had been snowing ! so after running round the garden we went to run round the fields .

Bump watch is just what it feels like in our house at the moment everyone has been ordered by Grandma to ALWAYS have their mobile phones with them when venturing out the house which has taken some getting used to as my phone usually has a lonely existence hidden under clothes ,books and other general clutter!
Am feeling huge now but am feeling alot happier about my impending labour i had a another hospital appointment last week where i got to talk to a consultant about all things birth and labour and i was pleased that he agreed with me about having a natural birth :) so yay ! Ive packed my hospital bag and am just impatiently waiting any signs that baby pixie is on her way earthside :)

not that im slightly obsessed at the moment or anything :) but have been busy reading these books , a big thank you to GP mum Lou who kindly lent me the HypnoBirthing book its has played a big part in me feeling alot more relaxed about birthing baby pixie i just hope i can finish reading it before baby arrives .

Got the baby name book from a charity shop to see if it had any girls names i liked and 'hip hurray' have found a couple i like but will till she's born before i decide on anything definite so will be keeping them secret :) i nearly popped a seam when i saw the name Anal in there ! i can safely reveal this will NOT be babies name :)

Have been on lots of long walks

and after months and months finally finished my baby blanket :)

a casualty of constant baby blanket making has been my handmade felt Christmas cards :( this is the only one Ive managed to finish so i will admit defeat and maybe have them done for next Christmas :)

Right off to knit and try my best to be patient and remind myself that baby's like wizards 'are never late, they arrive exactly when they mean too :) x

These are some of the Christmasy goings on from the past week :)
Daisy went to the Toddler Christmas party so after a major rummage we found one of her few dresses and cracked out the rainbow tights and she even let me tie her hair up in pig tails :)

Yesterday we went to see Father Christmas ! who i must admit was on the rather thin and slightly naff side ( i like my Santa to at least have a real beard but i think that's just me being a perfectionist and watching miracle on 34th street far too many times !!!) the pixies loved it though .

Daisy took awhile to come round after being rather taken aback at first but eventually crept up to father Christmas with Grandma for protection :)

Then after all the twinkly light and tinsely excitement we went for a play on the playground .

and of course Doodles didn't escape the tinsely fun :)

Here's a nice obscure photo of my 34 week bump ,i really must remember to take some more photos of me and bump as i only have one photo of my Ben bump and none of my full term Daisy bump :(

I Still haven't decided on the best course of action to take about monitoring during labour !have yet another midwife appointment on Friday so will see what she says.
would love to be in my own home to labour peacefully but that's no longer possible and my parents house is just to full of people :(
Have started looking into hypnobirthing as Ive also got worries about giving birth without Andy there as comfort and support like he was with my last two births ,he didn't do anything amazing during labour and birth but its nice to have someone there to share it with . My mum has said she will come to hospital with me but doesn't feel she can come and be there during the birth . but ive got used to the idea of doing it alone (apart from the midwifes) i just hope i can keep focused and positive and my big worry is i will spend labour in tears upset that ive no husband to hold my hand and support me or crying afterwards at having no husband to share my baby with .
However despite all my little worries im looking forward to labour and getting to see my baby for the first time :) and crikey i need to think of a name for her !

Ive started practising with my preloved gypsymama wrap in front of the mirror as ive never used a wrap type sling before .and after months of deliberation finally ordered a MaM two way jacket :) which arrived today and is really lovely so i can still baby wear when its cold and icy :) yay .

This is my scarf im knitting, i thought it was about time i knitted myself something lovely, im also knitting like mad to finish tummy pixies baby blanket .

and yes that is a wooden spatula Ben is holding ! its his new favourite toy he found it while having a rummage in Grandmas kitchen draws and now he and it are inseparable . he even coloured it in with red felt pen and then when he took it too bed he feel asleep with his cheek on it and when he woke up he had a red felt tip cheek which you can just about see in the photo :)

The weather has been a bit wet and soggy lately so we have been up to lots of indoor play,this is Ben's castle he made out of Lego .

These are tummy pixies knitted longies that i finally finished after a Daisy pixie pulled a huge chunk off my needle :) it looks from the photo like one ankle is a bit wonkey but its just the photo :) . Cant wait now to see how they look on my little girl ,

Im 33 weeks pregnant now and after a confusing midwife visit am getting a bit worried about labour despite my best efforts not too ,this has not been helped by all the advice Ive had from various consultants and midwifes about my vbac . some seem to think i need constant monitoring and 'watching like a hawk' like one midwife said and others seem to think i don't need any monitoring during labour at all !!?? so I'm trying to do some research so i can make the decision myself but its not been so easy there's lots of conflicting advice on the Internet too !

We had one really sunny day so we rushed out to take advantage of the sun and large puddles .

We had planned on all going on a walk in our favourite woods but Ben was complaining loudly that his ear hurt so Grandma,Grandad and Doodles took Daisy while i stayed home and looked after Ben and made a start carving our pumpkin.

Despite Daisy being in head too toe waterproofs she still came home absolutely soaked :) which is always a sign she's had a good time .

Knitted these ghosts for the pixies to find in the morning ,they were greeted with squeals of delight :) which made it all worth it staying up late too knit them all .

After much cursing under my breath i finally scooped out all the inside and set aside the flesh for making pumpkin pie and i didn't cut any fingers off which was a bonus :)

In the afternoon we played dressing up ,Ben's a pirate /skeleton incase you were wondering .

Then we set about some serious baking first we made pumpkin pie then we made fairy cakes and as usual the pixies were only interested in licking the spoons so i had to take the bowl off them before they ate all the uncooked fairy cake mix.

and this was my big success of the day, Pumpkin pie ! i was a little worried at how it would taste but i was super duper yummy so i only just managed to get a photo of it before it was eaten up .

We have all had a bad case of the snottys and have been feeling very rough so we've not been up to much . except lots of knitting .
Have been feeling really down and the knitting seems to have gone into overdrive . another hat for daisy .

had a really stressful phone call so found myself making lentil frogs for the pixies which were appreciated (see small grabby hand in photo)

finished Bens scarf which is a Christmas present .

Ive been knitting like a mad thing since we moved to Lancashire as i find it very relaxing and helps take my mind off all the upset and worries i have .

So i would like to personally thank 'Knitting' for saving my sanity and keeping me calm xx

This hat is the only thing i have completely finished so far :) there is half finished projects everywhere .

I'm really happy with the hat and it suits my little pixie Daisy down to the ground .

this sorry looking thing is Onu man who is another casualty of Doodle's fetish for eating cuddly toys arms and legs ! Ben was very upset but soon cheered up when i told him id make him another . im thinking Onu mummy and baby next :)

Also on the topic of things I'm making :) me and tummy pixie had a appointment at the hospital yesterday as the midwife thought the consultant should see us as were new . Ugh what a slightly pointless afternoon ! when i arrived i was told i needed a dating scan ! even though im 27wks and already had one ! so got to see baby again which was nice but a bit emotional as last time i had a scan Andy was with me and i missed having someone to share it with .

I then after a hours wait saw a midwife who told me i wouldn't see a consultant till i was 36wks ! but it turns out my new hospital don't want to have me down as high risk because of previous c-section ,which means i get to labour at home and don't have to be monitored by a machine through out my labour :) yipppie ! so feeling alot happier about birthing baby elf even if its gonna be without my husband :(

over the last couple of day i have received some wonderful gifts from some very kind and wonderful people who's kindness has really touched me and made me cry too :) but in a good happy way xx
This cute green Tye dyed baby grow ,knitted pumpkin and beautiful bracelet was my GP Autumn swap gift from the lovely Kimberley and baby Caleb x thank you so much i cant wait to put my baby elf in the baby grow :)

We were also so blessed to received a lovely parcel full of goodies from Gina and her family x the photo above is Daisy wearing the cute stripey top Gina gave us .

Moving on

Well we are now officially all moved out of Stoke on Trent after living there for 10yrs !
The emptying of all mine and he pixies belongings from our much loved house wasn't as upsetting as i had imagined (helped by a particularly nasty phone call from Andy the day before) which made me all the more determined to get on with stuff and stop being a wet blanket !
My dad and two brothers managed to fill a very big van with all our accumulated junk which was a bit of a shock as i didn't imagine i had so much 'stuff' !
Then Sunday was another mammoth day of me sorting out what was for keeping ,what was for the charity shop and what was worth selling on ebay ! it took alllllllll day and i filled 7 charity shop bags and Grandads garage :)
The pixies were very happy to have their beds and toys back and it was comforting for me to have all my books and craft stuff back with me :)
Have stashed photo albums away under the bed so i don't feel tempted to look at them as it is just far too painful , i left all the albums of pre- children photos behind and our wedding album as i could bring myself to throw them away or to bring them with me and keep them :(

This is my pixies on the local playground which i used to play on as a child (although some of it has changed since then )

Daisy's new favourite spot is on the back of the armchair watching cars and people go past and occasionally shouting out 'MEOW' when she sees a cat :)

Grandma volunteered to look after poorly Ben so me Daisy and Doodles went for a walk so i decided to take some photos of my favourite bits about our village which is completely different to what were used to living in a big smelly dirty city.

A local resident flying his helicopter out of his garden ! Daisy was amazed .

My poorly Ben has a ear infection so today we went to our new Doctors and we got given a bottle of yucky yellow banana antibiotics which hopefully will help as hes not sleeping very well .

this is the clean up operation after making some fairy cakes the important job of licking the spoons :)

Poor 'olly' that i made for Daisys 1st birthday got a wash in the washing machine and silly mummy forgot her hair was pure wool ! so now 'olly' has some rather funky dreadlocks :)

I have been feeling alot happier and started sleeping better and not having horrid dreams yay :) on sunday i met up with some of my friends i went to school with ,which was just what i needed they were so lovely and cheered me up :)

Andy wanted to meet up with me and the children so yesterday i stupidly decided to meet him with the pixies .

I dont know why i kind of expected it but seeing he had taken his wedding ring off upset me alot but i was determined not to get angry or cry about anything as i didn't wan to ruin the day for the pixies who were really happy and excited to see their daddy .

We went for something to eat at a restaurant with a big soft play area and watching Andy playing with the pixies and seeing how happy my babies were broke my heart and i couldn't help crying, i wanted to scream at him 'how could you do this to us?'

Going home on the bus i had to bite my lip to stop myself from crying.

The whole day was one big and very painful reminder of the life me and the pixies have lost .

I will defiantly not be meeting up with him again i feel like im back to square one again crying over silly things and not sleeping well and had the most horrid dreams last night :(

Got a really hard day ahead on Saturday as me and my dad and brothers are moving all our stuff out of our house in Stoke . Its going to be very upsetting packing up 7yrs of my life but im looking forward to having my craft stuff back and my books .

Fingers crossed i don't spend all Saturday in tears x

Round and round the garden

Had a hard day today, i had an appointment to meet with a solicitor about all the legal stuff to do with the house and start divorce proceedings :(
The solicitor was a bit scary and made me feel really small and crappy and she was also very negative about everything and when i explained why the i didn't want the pixies going to stay with Andy in Stoke as it would be too upsetting and confusing for them she didn't seem to think this was relevant and told me Andy should see them every weekend ! which i think upset me more than anything i feel helpless as a mummy that what i think is best for my pixies doesn't seem to matter :( but am hoping to keep the children seeing their dad between me and Andy as solicitors only seem to see in black and white .

On a happier note the pixies are doing well ,Ben has started a really lovely playgroup which we went to visit the other day ,its all play based and has all the activity's like painting and books and sand all set up and the children can chose what they want to play with .They also have a amazing outside area which they let the children play in whatever the weather :) Ben settled in really quick and looks forward to going in the mornings and is always really excited and happy when i pick him up which is really lovely to see and he is always got a lovely piece of art ,today's was a beautiful fish which we hung in the kitchen window .

Ben spent the afternoon looking for insects in the garden with his magnifying glass . He has also invented a new game called 'ball chase' which is a bit like football and rugby :) and involves lots of rolling on the floor .

Daisy is a happy little imp and always wants to be in the garden and has learnt how to put her wellys on herself but still prefers bare foot :)

Doodles has got herself a cough so is going to be going to the vets to make sure shes all ok , we went out last week and when we got back she had puked up a strange collection of furry limbs on the carpet ! which i first thought was a rabbit but after a autopsy we discovered it was a cuddly Lema that my mum has sat on her computer ,doodles had chewed its arms and legs off and left this poor Lema body sat on the sofa :( so goodness knows what the vet might find when they examine her !

Chapter 2

Have decided to start writing my blog again as i think it will help to write about the nice things me and the pixies are doing and also somewhere to record my thoughts and feeling which maybe one day will help my pixies understand everything that's gone on .

Well we are now living in the beautiful Ribble Valley in lancashire with my mum and dad and my two brothers which is a squash and a squeeze but is the best option for me and the pixies as they have lots of family to play with and i have lots of family to help me with looking after the pixies .
They now have a big garden to play in and fields full of sheep and cows just at the end of our road ,this is everything i ever wanted for my pixies growing up in the countryside where i grew up its just not in the circumstances i ever imagined :(

I'm finding it extremely difficult dealing with everything that's happened and miss our old life so badly and miss having Andy to talk to about everyday stuff and our pixies , its like grieving for all hopes and dreams that we have lost but i hope with every passing day it will get easier and the pixies are my inspiration and keep me strong x

The pixies are settling in to our new life ok it has taken awhile but we are getting there and they absolutely love playing with their uncles in the garden .

im going will be taking a breakfrom blogging as at the moment things have gone very bad and i dont feel i want to blogg about bad things but am feel unable to blogg about anything good at the moment .
me and the pixies are moving out of our home to go and live with my mum and dad in lancashire ,Andy has left me for someone else so my heart has to do some seriouse healing and i have to try to make the move as gentle as possible for the pixies .
Baby pixie is ok although im worried about the effect of all this stress and negativity .
will hopefully start blogging when things are more settled and happier and i can share our new life in lancashire .

Rainy day = painting day

We woke up too lots and lots of rain so when i suggested we do some painting there was jumping up and down and cheering :) its been a while since Ive had the patience and energy for getting the paint out and then clearing it all away again.
i couldn't find any paint brushes though oops ! so we had a big rummage in the kitchen draw that's full of all sorts of bits and bobs from little plastic men too plug covers and decided to do some printing with our motley collection of bits.

little plastic man left little paint footprints which looked very cute walking across the paper .

Mummy's messy little miss had to be stripped off to the nappy to stop her ruining her clothes and it was a good job i did as boy did she cover herself in paint !

Ben had the idea of running the wheels of his digger through the paint to see what pattern it would make ,he then decided to paint his digger and some of his little knights.

One of many finished master pieces :) we hung them up to show to daddy when he got home from work the pixies are soooo proud of them i think we will defiantly do alot more painting in the future :)

After what has been a pretty unsettling couple of weeks it was therapeutic and calming to be able to get back to doing our usual day to day activity's and as the sun was shinning we thought where better to go than our local nature reserve which is at its most beautiful this time of year.

taking this photo took some guts on my part ,ever since Bens fell in the lake in the park ive been really nervous with the pixies around water and usually follow them around closely making sure im always in grab reach, thankfully it hasn't rubbed off on Ben who is as confident as ever :)

After all the rain it was so nice to be able to go for a sunny walk in the park . Daisy found a evil McDonnalds happy meal box and took rather a liking to it so decided to collect leaves and petals and twigs in it while she toddled along i had to fight the urge to take it off her .

Ben helped me make some Spelt bread before dinner, this is the face of someone caught eating the dough :)

This is my current pregnancy craving ,raw crunchy veg mmmmmmmm smiley face optional :)

i forgot to buy some more self raising flour for making muffins so we made Spelt cinnamon and Heather Honey cookies :) and then Nana turned up with a tin full of fairy cakes with Smarties on top which made my cookies look a bit boring in comparison :(

She then came out with the weirdest thing ever ! she asked 'do we know what it is yet?' meaning baby's gender i said no we wernt going to find out this time she said 'ok just as long as its not a 'Willywoofter' (her word for being gay) and did a limp wristed action !!!!???? she totally knocked me speechless i ended up scampering into the kitchen to make her a cup of tea ! she then started comparing Daisy's speech to Bens saying Daisy could speak alot better and clearer than Ben with Ben sat right next to her, poor little man :( ugh ! how i enjoy her visits .

Now the morning sickness has finally gone ive had so much more energy for doing the crafty bits and bobs i love :)
This little pixie hat is for pixie number 3 due December ,and i cant tell you how proud i am of this little hat :) my first knitted piece of clothing :)

Andy bought me this brilliant book from Amazon so i can kit baby out in mama hand knitted clothes ,am currently working on a jumper .

Its Daisy's 2nd birthday next week so i made her a little dog out of a pillowcase :) i put the eyes on wonky though woops !

We decided on a little holiday to Grandma and Grandads in lancashire ,so i packed the suncream and sun hats which guaranteed it to rain :)

Well its been a horrid week me and Andy and the pixies have all come down with suspected swine flu ,what we thought was just a bad cold got worse and worse .Andy started worrying about me so made me phone NHS Direct which finally led to a middle of the night diagnosis from a nurse who wanted to get my GP to give me Tamiflu !? which there was no way i was going to take .
So decided to fight it off with lots of fruit and water and watching Shrek on dvd :)
The pixies didn't seem to have it anywhere near as bad as me and Andy which was a massive relief ,they just had to put up with very tired ,achy mummy and daddy who have lived in their Jammie's all week :)
This was our first trip to the park in a over a week and the pixies had a wonderful time playing football with daddy and running about ......

and rolling down hills.....

but most of all enjoyed splashing in the big puddles. Daisy did a very flexible yoga move while stood in this puddle and dipped her head in the puddle, our camera is slowly falling to bits so i couldn't get a photo of it :(

if you look reeeeeeeeeeeallly closely you can just about see my iccle baby bump :) i had a very vivid dream that baby is born at 36wks and 3 days on a Wednesday weighing 6lbs and is a boy and we call him Talasin ! Andys written it on the calendar to see if it comes true :)

This was the biggest puddle EVER ! and the pixies got soaked running and jumping in it but they absolutely loved it !

I was gobsmacked today when this beautiful pregnant little lady arrived on our doormat from the super talented Tracy http://arlenkern74.blogspot.com.
I cant thank you enough Tracy for such a gorgeous gift your kindness has really made my week as we are all feeling pretty rubbish at the moment with a horrid cold (or in Andy's case Man flu ).
I love her little baby bump and her hair aaawwwwww ! can you tell I'm pleased :)
I love it so much and will treasure her forever thank you again :) xx
