Running jumping and climbing trees

Today was another sunny day so we went for a picnic to the big park in town with our friends Carrine ,Alex and baby Oliver . We spent all day in the park and the children loved running round together and nobody fell in the lake thank goodness!
climbing trees, one of Ben's favourite things to do .

Another trip to the vets

These are some of the crafty things i made over the weekend ,The felt bead bracelet i made last night in bed while watching 'Bridget Jones Diary' and ended up stabbing myself with the needle and have a very sore finger today but it was worth it as i love it :) there is a pink bead missing but my wrist was too scrawny so had to take it out so i could make the bracelet smaller .
felt mushroom that hangs on our kitchen door now.

Felt rabbit for our spring season table .

These are Ben's weekend crafts (with a little help from mummy) We made a robot with empty toothpaste boxes, green tea box and a paracetamol box for a head, he has button eyes and a toothpaste lid on his head :)

This is a egg box croc Ben painted him about a week ago as it took that long for the paint to dry properly .

Ben with his beloved Hobbit cloak on .

Yet even more photos of my pixies in the dog bed ! they put it inside the tent and then one of them sneakily took the biscuit tin in there for a secret nibble .
We spent the morning in the house waiting for the postman to bring Ben's birthday present we had ordered (a wooden castle shhhhhhh don't tell !)
Then in the afternoon we had to go to the vets so Doodles could have her stitches taken out she was shaking like a leaf when we were waiting in the vets i think she thought we were going to leave her there again and it didn't help that there was a randy Rhodesian Ridgeback giving Doodles the eye!
She was very good and sat quietly while the vet removed all her stitches so on the way back we all went for a run about in the park ,doodles hasn't been allowed off the lead with stitches in so she enjoyed a mad gallop and seems so much happier for it :)

Once upon a sunny Sunday

Daisy woke us all up at 6.30am so we decided as we were up so early we would go to the local car boot sale and we found these books for the pixies . We already have Dear Zoo but a little monkey pulled all the flaps off ! The Tiger who came to tea is a favourite already :)
It was such a sunny day that despite me and Andy feeling very tired we decide to go on another bike ride to Westport lake .
Daisy insisted on bringing her 'olly' (dolly) here she is enjoying some sunshine .

Having a picnic .

Ben and Daddy seeing if geese like Banana (they didn't)

Westport lake

There was a amazing playground next to the lake so after a ride round the lake and a ice lolly the pixies had a good scramble round the playground .
All my achy bits have just about stopped aching now and i have 13 bruises on my legs (Andy counted them) but its so liberating being able to get out of the city into the countryside under our own steam and not relying on buses .

very tired sore Saturday

Today i am very tired Ben co-slept with me last night and was up alot coughing and crying so neither of us slept well.
Daisy doing some early morning building .

Ben falling asleep in Doodles bed, i think the pixies are in her bed more than she is .

The Stockmar block crayons i ordered turned up this morning .Ben enjoyed stacking them up and Daisy was able to use them so much better than normal crayons so a brilliant buy :)

Happy pixies .

15miles

Today we went to the charity shops and found lots of lovely books and a cute wooden fairy .
Found this brilliant craft book on making softies .

We then had a rather hurried picnic at the playground before having to run inside the museum to shelter from the hail . Ben spent ages playing with a wooden castle in the museum but was scarred by all the manikins in the Victorian shop scenes.

Andy finished work early so we decided to go for a bike ride on our shiny new bikes :)

We had to ride for a tiny bit on a busy road which was really really scary especially as i had my precious pixie Daisy on the back.
Once we got on the canal path it was much more fun , Daisy chattered away to me telling me all the things that she could see Ogy (doggy) horsey , car and lots more ogies . after another ride on a scary road we stopped off at a pub for some food .

Daisy with a roast potato in one hand and bread in another .She wouldn't let go of the potato so she ate it on the way back home . The ride home was really hard work i think we might have been a bit too enthusiastic with how far we could ride on our first trip it turns out we cycled 15miles ! and it really feels like it today... ouch !

We have wheels :)

There was much excitement today as the Rushton family finally got four wheels in the shape of shiney new bikes for me and Andy with kiddie seats fitted to the backs for the pixies.
I haven't had a bike since i was about 14yrs old so was very excited and a bit nervous about how easy it would be to ride with a Daisy on the back. So while Andy collected the bikes one by one from the Halfords down the road me and Daisy made room in the shed for our new babies .

A hug for Doodles

me and Daisy on our maiden voyage down the back alley ! It was surprisingly easy to ride with a pixie passenger on the back even one that kept poking my back .

Daisy in her new pink flowery bike helmet looking a bit apprehensive .

We decided we really needed to test our bikes out so we went to the park for a zoom about ,Daisy really seemed to enjoy it especially going down the hill where she went weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Daddy and Ben

riding off into the distance . We are hoping to go on a bike adventure at the weekend so fingers crossed for no rain x

Carrot cake and tents

My angry looking pom pom chick .

Spring gnome (there's something about its hair that reminds me of Jimmy Savile) .

It was another sunny beautiful day so the pixies spent all morning playing in the backyard we put the pop up tent up and Ben set up camp.

i decided as it was so nice out we would have a picnic in the tent they were both very excited by it. I cant wait to go camping in the summer the pixies will love it .Ben keeps making me read the Alfie book by Shirley Hughes where Alfie goes camping ,we have never been camping with the pixies before so it will be a big adventure :)

Doodles clearing up any crumbs after the picnic.

Row row row your dog bed gently down the stream .

We had a couple of sad looking carrots left in our veg box so we made them into a very yummy carrot cake :) it was my first ever carrot cake so am very proud of it ,even Andy who is not a carrot fan really liked it :) Ben helped (well sort of ) he enjoys stirring the mixture but isn't interested in the rest of it ,but he suddenly re-appears when its time to get them out of the oven :) and is very interested in the eating part .

while taking a photo of my cake a little face appeared and licked some of the topping off!
